A fascinating thousand-year history of Iceland, Land of Fire, Ice, Vikings, Icelandic Horses, Puffins and much more, is ably described by Dr. Elisabeth Ward.

Dr. Ward is of Icelandic heritage. She was co-curator of the traveling Viking Millennium Exhibition assembled by the Smithsonian and co-editor of the companion book, Vikings: the North Atlantic Saga. She has been director of exhibitions for a museum in Iceland, director of the Scandinavian Cultural Center at Pacific Lutheran University, and currently is director of the Los Altos History Museum in California.
